JGR AT RICHMOND: Joe Gibbs Racing leads all teams with 19 NASCAR Cup Series victories at Richmond Raceway. In 175 combined starts at Richmond, the organization has tallied 62 top-five finishes, 102 top-10s, eight pole awards, and 6,610 laps led. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, and Martin Truex Jr have all driven JGR entries to victory lane at the 0.75-mile track.

AVERAGE FINISH: Joe Gibbs Racing drivers hold three of the top four average-finishing positions among full-time drivers through 24 races this season. Christopher Bell ranks second overall with a 12.1-average finishing position followed by Chase Briscoe (13.3) and Denny Hamlin (13.6).


DENNY HAMLIN

No. 11 Progressive Insurance Toyota Camry XSE

HAMLIN AT RICHMOND: Denny Hamlin grew up in nearby Chesterfield, Virginia, and attended races at Richmond Raceway with his family as a kid. Throughout his racing career, he has translated that hometown connection into plenty of on-track success. He has five NASCAR Cup Series victories at Richmond (September 2009, September 2010, September 2016, April 2022, and March 2024). His record at the 0.75-mile track also includes seven top-five finishes in his last eight starts and 13 top-fives in his past 16 starts dating back to September 2016. Hamlin has also earned three NASCAR Xfinity Series wins at Richmond.

RICHMOND ROYALTY: Hamlin leads all active drivers with 2,367 laps led at Richmond Raceway. He ranks fourth on the all-time lap leader list at Richmond behind NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace, and Bobby Allison.

WATKINS GLEN RECAP: The No. 11 team started 22nd and finished 25th in last weekend’s race at Watkins Glen International. Hamlin’s strategy put him 10th to begin the final segment, but he was collected in an accident on the restart and dropped outside the top 30. He eventually recovered for a top-25 result.

SEASON SO FAR: With two races remaining in the regular season, Hamlin is currently third in the overall standings. In addition to leading the series outright with 24 playoff points, he is also tied for the most wins (four) and top-five finishes (11).

PROGRESSIVE: Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE will feature Progressive Insurance as the primary sponsor this weekend at Richmond Raceway. CHASE BRISCOE

No. 19 Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry XSE

BRISCOE AT RICHMOND: Chase Briscoe has eight NASCAR Cup Series starts at Richmond Raceway with a best finish of 11th in April 2022 and July 2023. His best finish in five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the track is a fifth-place result in September 2019.

WATKINS GLEN RECAP: Briscoe started third and finished fifth last weekend at Watkins Glen International. The No. 19 team ran inside the top 10 for most of the race. Following his final pit stop, Briscoe passed 14 cars in the final 20 laps of the race to collect his 10th top-five finish of the season and his best finish at the Upstate New York road course.

ON A ROLL: Briscoe leads all drivers with 360 points scored over the last 11 races. The Mitchell, Indiana native has set career highs in nearly every statistical category this season. He has 10 top-five finishes (third most in 2025), 12 top-10s (tied for fifth most in 2025), and a series-leading six pole awards. His 10.0 average-starting position is the best in the series and his 13.3 average-finishing position ranks third.

MEET CHASE BRISCOE: Briscoe will sign autographs at the Bass Pro Shops in Ashland, Virginia (11550 Lakeridge Pkwy, Ashland, VA 23005) Friday, August 15, at 7:30 p.m. ET. 175 wristbands will be distributed at the store beginning Friday morning at 9 a.m. ET.

JAMES SMALL: 2025 marks James Small’s sixth season as a NASCAR Cup Series crew chief. The first five years of his tenure as crew chief were spent with Martin Truex Jr. as Small led the No. 19 team to eight wins, 46 top-five finishes, 86 top-10s, and four NASCAR playoff appearances. The Australia native led Truex to a runner-up finish in the 2021 championship and to the 2023 regular season championship. Small earned his ninth career win with Briscoe at Pocono Raceway earlier this year. The crew chief of the No. 19 led Martin Truex Jr to one win (September 2021), five top-five finishes, and seven top-10 finishes across nine races at Richmond Raceway.

BELL AT RICHMOND: Christopher Bell owns four top-five finishes and seven top-10s in nine NASCAR Cup Series starts at Richmond Raceway. Last August at Richmond, Bell led 122 laps and won stage one before finishing sixth. In five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Richmond, Bell owns three wins, four top-10 finishes, one pole award and 457 laps led.

LEADING THE WAY: Bell leads all active drivers with a 7.3-average finishing position at Richmond Raceway.

WATKINS GLEN RECAP: Bell showcased his road course skills by earning a runner-up finish last weekend at Watkins Glen International. After starting ninth, he was a contender throughout the race before ultimately finishing second.

SEASON SO FAR: Through 24 races this season, Bell ranks among the series leaders in virtually every statistical category. He is tied for the series lead with 14 top-10 finishes while also ranking second in average finish (12.1), and third in wins (three) and top-fives (nine). The Oklahoma native also won the annual NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

No. 54 SiriusXM Toyota Camry XSE

GIBBS AT RICHMONDTy Gibbs will make his sixth NASCAR Cup Series start at Richmond Raceway this weekend. His best finish is a ninth-place result in April 2023. During his 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship season, Gibbs won the pole award and led 114 laps on the way to victory lane at the 0.75-mile track.

WATKINS GLEN RECAP: Gibbs started 14th and finished 33rd in last Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International.

MILLION DOLLAR MAN: Gibbs won the inaugural In-Season Tournament by defeating Ty Dillion at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He was awarded $1 million after being the sixth seed and advancing over Justin Haley, A.J. Allmendinger, Zane Smith, Tyler Reddick and Dillion throughout the five-week tournament.

TYLER ALLEN: Crew chief Tyler Allen is in his first year leading Gibbs and the No. 54 team. While this is Allen’s first experience as a crew chief at the Cup Series level, he had a standout season in 2024 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Allen led JGR’s No. 20 Xfinity Series team to eight victories and a runner-up finish in the owner’s championship.
