LOUDON, N.H. – Ryan Blaney powered to victory today in the Mobil 1 301 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) Playoffs race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), kicking off the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Playoffs and marking another thrilling chapter in the track’s storied racing history. The race drew a sold-out crowd for the NCS’s only stop in New England this season.
Here’s this week’s Track Talk, from northeastern correspondent, Lou Modestino.
Corey Heim won the Craftsman Truck at New Hampshire. Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA took fourth while Corey LaJoie (originally from Norwalk, CT) ended up eighth. Mike Christopher of Plainville, CT ended up 13th. Long Island, NY Star Patrick Emerling was not as lucky and the best he could do was to finish 28th.
In the Cup Series race on Sunday. Ryan Blaney won, with pole winner Joey Logano of Middletown, CT finishing fourth. Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT ended up 14th.
Nice to see that NHMS had a big crowd on hand. Moving the event to a Play-off date from Mid-July was the right thing to do.

Whether it’s been open-wheel cars, stock cars, motorcycles or sports cars on either the historic IMS 2.5-mile oval or its emerging 2.439-mile road course, now into its second decade in its current layout and incarnation, winning at Indy means you’ve conquered an iconic facility and you’ll engage in a long lip lock with the fabled bricks.
IMSA made a “first” for Indianapolis in 2024 with the first six-hour TireRack.com Battle On The Bricks. What it will serve up for an encore remains to be seen, but per usual, the 53 cars across four IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes have a keen eye on being first across that yard of bricks.
