Mercedes-AMG Competitors Combine for Two Race Wins and Four More Podiums While Mercedes-AMG Secures Third-Consecutive GT America Manufacturer Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Mercedes-AMG clinched a third-straight GT America powered by AWS Manufacturer Championship to highlight a successful season-ending weekend of SRO America competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) that included GT4 and GT2 race wins and a three-day haul of six total podium finishes. The half dozen visits to IMS victory lane included a pair of podium showings by Mercedes-AMG Performance Teams GruppeM Racing and Lone Star Racing. Maro Engel, Jules Gounon and Mikael Grenier drove the No. 130 Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 to a second-place Pro-class finish while the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG Team Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Luca Stolz, Fabian Schiller and Alex Palou rallied to third-place Pro honors in Saturday’s Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) Indianapolis 8 Hour. NASCAR Officially Names 75 Greatest Drivers In Celebration of 75th Anniversary
Daytona Beach, Fla. (May 12, 2023) – Last night’s announcement of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers completed the list after a several-week rollout. The drivers, honored in celebration of NASCAR’s 75th anniversary, will be recognized during the annual Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway.

Time was of the essence on Saturday as a thunderstorm was barreling toward Talladega Superspeedway in the middle of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race. The competition was fierce but as the skies opened up, it was Kaulig Racing’s Jeb Burton that was able to hold onto the lead just before the final caution came out before the race was red-flagged and ultimately called because of weather securing his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win. NASCAR Cup Series News & Notes – Atlanta Motor Speedway
Originally called Atlanta International Raceway, the track was then a 1.5-mile paved speedway, located in Hampton Georgia. The first NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta was on July 31, 1960 and won by Fireball Roberts from the pole position.
Over the years the track underwent several changes. It was re-measured to 1.522 miles in the spring of 1970. It was renamed Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1990. And then the track layout was reversed, and the track was re-configured to 1.54 miles between the two races in 1997. (more…)
