Richmond Raceway has been known by several different names and has been reconfigured several times over the years of its existence, but all the while it has been a staple on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule since 1953. Sunday, April 13, 2019 – On this day in history, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. one his first of two NASCAR Cup Series races in his season sweep of Richmond Raceway in 2019. Truex led 186 of the 400 laps and finished 0.178 second ahead of Team Penske’s Joey Logano. Truex would go on to win a series season-most of seven races in 2019.
~ Hall of Famer Ralph Lawler once served as announcer at Riverside International Raceway ~ Fontana, Calif. (Feb. 28, 2019) – Broadcasting icon Ralph Lawler, who was the first voice of Riverside International Raceway and is now the voice of the LA Clippers, will add yet another milestone to his lengthy resume – serving as announcer for Driver Introductions at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on March 17.
