The huge weekend of racing begins Friday night, August 15 at Lincoln Speedway featuring MOWA Sprint Cars, Saturday afternoon, August 16 with USAC Silver Crown and Sportsman at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, and Sunday afternoon, August 17 with the ARCA Allen Crowe Memorial 100 and the Sportsman Nationals at the Illinois State Fair.

Centralia, IL Veteran Racer Joe Cooksey Returns To State Fair Races Sunday

Joe CookseyAugust 12, 2025 Springfield, IL-Centralia’s Joe Cooksey, a long time ARCA Menards Series competitor, has teamed with Morris, Illinois owner/driver to return to ARCA dirt track competition in the Allen Crowe 100 Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  Joe has 145 ARCA starts in a 19-year ARCA career including a pole position in 200 on the DuQuoin “Magic Mile”.

Here’s Lou Modestino and his Track Talk column, reporting on northeastern motorsports competitors’ results from the past weekend…
Shane Van Gisbergen won the Cup race at Watkins Glen, NY.   Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came 13th.  Joey Logano of Middletown, CT finished 14th.
Corner Zilisch won the Xfinity race.  Boston’s Kaz Grala ended up 11th driving the Chris and Mary Our entry from Cape Cod, MA   Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT wasn’t so luck and had to settle for 32nd.  Ditto for Thomas Anziana of Colt’s Neck, NJ, whoended his day in 37th.
The Craftsman Trucks had Corey Heim go to victory Lane.  Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA placed third while Parker Kligerman of Weston, CT came in 31st.
The ARCA Menard’s Series was also at the Glen which saw Tristen McKee going to Victory Lane while Dale Quarterly, originally from Hanover, MA,  finished fifth.  Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, NY came in seventh.
On the West Coast the Indy Cars were in action in Portland, OR with Will Power the first to get the checkered flag.  Not so lucky was Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT who ended his day in 27th position.

Isabella Robusto Returns To Springfield IL Mile Aiming For Win

Isabella RobustoSpringfield, IL August 8, 2025-Twenty-year old Isabella Robusto returns for her sophomore run at the ARCA Menard’s Allen Crowe 100 Sunday, August 17 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  The South Carolina resident nearly became the first female winner of a major auto racing event on the Springfield Mile in 2024 when she started 19th and finished 2nd driving for the Venturini Team.  She returns in 2025 chasing an ARCA title, currently fifth in points after twelve events with 8 top 10 finishes.  She also pairs with the Venturini team in 2025 and will be one of the challengers, if not favorites to capture the Allen Crowe 100.

Shannon Slaughter Explains The Emotions Behind Her Historic Win At Grandview Speedway

Shannon Slaughter and her family bought her Sportsman Modified car in May.

Just a couple months later, she found herself with that car in Victory Lane.

On July 26, Slaughter won the T.P. Trailers Sportsman race at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania for not only her first victory at the track, but also her first in a modified. The 22-year-old became the first female driver to win a feature race at Grandview, a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series track.
