Austin Beers and Justin Bonsignore to Settle the Modified Tour Championship at Martinsville

The battle for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship has reached its crescendo as Austin Beers and Justin Bonsignore settle the battle for the series championship during Thursday evening’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway (7:30 p.m. ET on FloRacing).

Beers enters Thursday’s race with a 14-point advantage in the standings and needs only to finish eighth or better to claim the series championship regardless of what Bonsignore does. Bonsignore, however, is the defending winner at Martinsville and could turn the tide in his favor if things Beers stumbles at the 0.526-mile oval.

Just five races remain in the 2025 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season as the series returns to historic Oswego Speedway in New York for the running of the Toyota Mod Classic 150 this Saturday night (8 p.m. ET on FloRacing).

Saturday’s race marks the Modified Tour’s 18th visit to Oswego, with the first four visits occuring in 1988. Brian Ross captured the first two checkered flags at the track, with Mike McLaughlin and George Kent Jr. capturing the next two at the 0.625-mile oval.

The race, the third of the 2025 Modified Tour season, doubles as the opening round of the Whelen Short Track Cup mini-series that offers more than $20,000 in additional bonuses to teams that compete in all three rounds.

CINCINNATI, OHIO. (November 19, 2024) – Beginning with the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series racing season, Kroger will move its primary sponsorship to Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing. In addition, RFK Racing will begin fielding a third Ford Mustang in 2025 with Ryan Preece joining the team to pilot the No. 60. Kroger and nearly 20 brands will appear across the RFK Racing cars of Brad Keselowski, Chris Buescher and Preece throughout the season.

Kyle Larson won the Cup race while Joey Logano of Middletown, CT came in eighth.  Not so fortunate were Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT who got 25th while Boston’s Kaz Grala came in 27th with Corey LaJoie being awarded 37th.  Corey is the son of Two-Time Xfinity Champion Randy LaJoie who grew up in Norwalk, CT before moving south.
Sam Mayer won the Xfinity race the previous day with Parker Kligerman of Westport, CT coming  in sixth while Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT took 16th.  Not so fortunate was Blain Perkins who placed 33rd.  Perkins drives the entry owned by Cape Cod’s Chris and his daughter Mary Our who receive their mail in Chatham, MA.

Denny Hamlin won the Cup race with Joey Logano of Middletown, CT taking 16th ,Corey LaJoie finished 21st, Boston’s Kaz Grala placed 27th and not so fortunate was Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT who ended up 37th. Lajoie is the son of Randy LaJoie who won Two Xfinity Championships and hails from Norwalk, CT.
Ryan Truex came home the victor of the Xfinity race, Keith Weatherman was eighth, Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT came in ninth, Parker Kligerman of Westport, CT took 12th, David Starr was 26th and Patrick Emerling of LI, NY came in 28th. Weatherman and Starr both drive team cars for Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our and reside in Harwich, MA.
Corner Zilsch won the Menard’s ARCA race earlier in the weekend with Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA taking the runner-up spot while Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, NY took seventh

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 27, 2022) – A season-long battle between two veteran champions came down to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale and Ron Silk held on to secure his second career Tour championship with a sixth-place finish in the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway. NASCAR Cup Series regular Ryan Preece took home the Grandfather clock, winning in a sentimental car he prepared at his home shop.
