Jeff Champagne Looks For Success in Next Weekend’s Chili Bowl

Massachusetts driver Jeff Champagne will be making his second start at the Lucas Oil Chili-Bowl Nationals when the 36th running of the world-famous event gets underway on January 10th . Driving for respected TQ and Midget team owner Marc Dailey, this will be the duo’s first effort chasing after a Golden Driller.

Racing Caged-Karts, Sprints, and Sportscars, much of Champagne’s time has been in Midgets, where his heart’s fixated, driving for many of the most notable owners. Frank Manafort, Bobby Seymour, Skip Matczak, Mel Kenyon, Brad Noffsinger, Sam Johnson, and others have not only supplied seat-time, but valuable guidance.
For this year’s Chili-Bowl (January 10th through 15th) Champagne will be driving a White/Black wrapped Hotsy-Clean sponsored #12M Spike Chassis Midget owned by Mooresville, North Carolina’s Marc Dailey. In last year’s 2021 Chili-Bowl, Champagne teamed with one of USAC’s youngest owner/drivers in Sam Johnson from St. Peters, Missouri. Perhaps one of the youngest Midget programs at the event, Champagne was able to advance from his Preliminary’s to win the F- Feature race. But a tenth-place result in his E-Feature kept the young program from advancing further. “Last year’s Chili Bowl provided me and Sam plenty of challenges,” said Champagne.
“Being that Sam is a young driver too, we are thankful for the experiences we went through because of what they’ve taught. “This will now be my 3 rd time on the Chili-Bowl dirt,” Champagne continued, “and I’m looking forward to using what I’ve learned to have an even better understanding of the changes it goes through. Having a race car that delivers consistency in each lap builds your confidence. That allows you to then push to 10/10ths lap after lap, and that allows you to build more speed into your racecar. Much of that begins with your racecar build. “Though it has taken me longer than I’d ever anticipated,” he revealed, “I am now heading into twenty-twenty-two backed by the strongest group of manufacturers, sponsors and people in my career.
“In addition to my personal sponsors Hotsy-Clean and Pease Plumbing & Heating, support comes from Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Vahlco Racing Wheels, K1 RaceGear, JS Customs and Indy Racing Experience. Additionally, we’ll have an Esslinger Ford from Bertrand Motorsports installed in Marc Dailey’s Spike Chassis. I am extremely fortunate heading into this year’s Chili-Bowl.
