AUSTIN, Tex., (August 27, 2024) – Summer break is over for Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, and the quartet of Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2 cars is ready to hit the track at Circuit of the Americas as they resume their pursuit of championship titles. With eight podiums and two wins under their belt, the Lizards have enjoyed a strong season and are primed for the final three events on the 2024 schedule. This weekend, the Austin, Texas circuit will host 43 entries in a thrilling doubleheader event.
“It will be nice to get back to racing again in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “We have been working hard getting prepared for the final push of events this season and we were able to get the cars on track at our facility at Apex Motor Club in preparation for COTA. The points battle is extremely tight and although two of our cars are currently sitting one-two in the Pro/Am championship, there are still several races to go, and we must make sure we finish every event. All four cars have been fast all year and we are looking forward to the second half of the season.”
Two and a half months have passed since the series last raced at Watkins Glen International, and the team is eager to kick off the second half of the 2024 season.
Following a successful weekend at the Glen, Slade Stewart and Andy Lee, driving the No. 14 pink unicorn entry “Sparklefarts,” currently lead the Pro-Am class championship points. In six starts, the pair have secured three podiums and one win, giving them a narrow three-point lead over teammates Tim Pappas and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
Pappas and Bleekemolen, who have claimed four podiums and one win, have established themselves as formidable contenders for the championship. Their victory in race two of the season-opening weekend at Sebring International Raceway set the tone for the season. With a maximum of 32 points available at each race weekend, the battle for the title remains wide open, and the drivers of the No. 54 Lamborghini are determined to reclaim the points lead.
Paul Nemschoff and Marc Miller, competing in the No. 41 entry, are still in pursuit of their first win of the 2024 season. The duo achieved a season-best top-five result at the previous round at Watkins Glen, continuing the positive momentum they’ve built in their first four races.
Sam Shi, driving the No. 98 Lamborghini, is also riding a wave of recent success, having secured his first podium of the season in the Am class at Watkins Glen International. His third-place finish in round six, coupled with three previous top five finishes, has him standing fifth in the Am class standings as the series heads into its final stretch.
