For the first time ever, NASCAR México Series arrives in Panama with an official championship round in Central America, marking a historic milestone in regional motorsports.
The series will hit the track at Autódromo Panamá on Saturday, September 13, featuring its two categories: NASCAR México and Challenge Series.
PANAMA CITY (April 8, 2025) — The NASCAR México Series is set to make history with its first-ever points-paying race in Central America, as Panama prepares to host a milestone event for the region’s motorsports scene.
The race will take place Saturday, Sept. 13, at Autódromo Panamá, featuring both of the series’ divisions: NASCAR México and the Challenge Series.
This inaugural race in Panama not only expands the series’ geographic footprint but also reflects the growing popularity of motorsports in Latin America. It marks a significant step for the region, highlighting Panama’s emergence as a competitive destination for international racing.
Panamanian fans will enjoy the thrill of stock car competition on their home soil. The race cars are specifically designed for the NASCAR México Series, featuring 350-cubic-inch engines with 400 horsepower — capable of reaching speeds above 155 mph on some sections of the Autódromo Panamá.
NASCAR México Series is part of NASCAR International, which includes series in Canada, Europe and Brazil. The Mexican championship is organized by Jimmy Morales S.A. de C.V., a company with more than 33 years of experience in motorsports event management and race car manufacturing.
The Panama event is organized by OPEMSA Panamá Inc., a local promoter and motorsports operator, in collaboration with the NASCAR México Series. The partnership aims to elevate the motorsports landscape in Central America while boosting tourism and positioning Panama as a premier destination on the global racing calendar.
NASCAR México and the Challenge Series categories both feature identical vehicles and highly skilled drivers — many of whom have competed internationally.
The series has produced notable drivers such as Daniel Suárez, now a NASCAR Cup Series competitor and the first international (non-U.S.) driver to win a national NASCAR title. Other rising stars include Andrés Pérez de Lara, currently racing in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, as well as Regina Sirvent and Eloy Sebastián, both participants in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program.
Autódromo Panamá is a purpose-built facility featuring a 2.5-kilometer (1.55-mile) circuit with a 400-meter (0.25-mile) frontstretch. The venue includes a three-level grandstand with general seating, commercial spaces, recreational areas, and public amenities. Upper levels house private suites, terraces, lounges and restaurants.
The two-level pit building features 21 pit stalls on the ground floor, with 10 private suites, two lounges, and a central café-restaurant on the second floor, offering full amenities for teams and spectators.
Tickets for the race will go on sale on a later date. Please visit http://www.nascar.mx for more information and follow the NASCAR México Series on Instagram, X and Facebook.
