Sabo and Flying Lizard Return to Long Beach for GT America Sprint Showdown

LONG BEACH, Cali., (April 9, 2025) – Flying Lizard Motorsports continues its California stretch of racing this weekend, charging into the Grand Prix of Long Beach for the next round of the GT America championship with Elias Sabo and the No. 80 5.11 Tactical BMW M4 GT3 EVO. This event, taking place from April 11-13, is a unique highlight in the motorsports calendar, celebrated for its vibrant downtown atmosphere, challenging street circuit, and various North American race series present.

“Long Beach is one of our standout events, renowned for its rich history, impressive fan attendance, and exceptional racing,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “Our primary sponsor, 511’s headquarters is located in Irvine, California, which means we will have a significant presence of guests this weekend. We have experienced considerable success at this venue in the past and are eager to build on our strong start to the season.”

The team kicked off the season in successful fashion at Sonoma Raceway, where Sabo clinched a second-place finish in Race 1, marking an impressive start to their 2025 campaign. Building on the momentum from Sonoma, Sabo and the Flying Lizard crew are eager to continue their pursuit of podium finishes as the GT America series progresses. The No. 80 BMW M4 GT3 EVO has already proven to be a formidable contender on the track, with its performance bolstered by Sabo’s off-season testing with Flying Lizard.

The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is renowned for its electrifying ambiance, making the streets of downtown Long Beach come alive with the sound of race cars. As North America’s oldest and most prestigious street race, it offers a unique blend of high-speed competition and festive entertainment. The 1.968-mile, 11-turn circuit winds through the scenic streets of downtown Long Beach, and the event’s rich history and coastal charm make it a favorite among drivers and fans, including local driver Elias Sabo.

“It is important to keep in mind that our next event is in two weeks,” concluded Law.

“While Long Beach offers an incredible racing experience, it is a street circuit, and the consequences of a mistake can be more severe. With the limited time available to turn a car around, we must stay focused and strategic throughout the weekend.”

The series features single-driver entries across GT2, GT3, and GT4 classes, allowing only ametur-rated drivers to demonstrate their capabilities in a professional racing environment. Competitors in GT America will compete in two 40-minute sprint races over the course of the weekend, taking place on Saturday, April 12 at 5:20 PM PT, and Sunday, April 13 at 11:20 AM. These races are designed to deliver non-stop racing, with no scheduled pit stops, placing a premium on driver skill, strategy, and vehicle performance.
