Sunday Program Set for Final Thompson Test & Tune Prior to October’s Sunoco World Series

Barre, VT & Naples, ME — The 0.625-mile oval at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is back to rip-roaring action this Sunday, September 8 for the Back to School Bash! Headlined by the Back to School Bash 75 for the Thompson Late Models featuring a $17,000 purse, including a $5,000 winners share, the Thompson Sunoco Modifieds, AZ Roofing SK Light Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks make it a full card of Sunday afternoon racing at the Big-T!

The Thompson Late Models are expecting quite the invasion for Sunday’s Back to School Bash 75. Top runners Nick Johnson, Derek Gluchacki and Brian Tagg will be among the weekly track championship faithful ready to hold back the flood gates and battle hard on the highbanks for the $5,000 winner’s prize! Longtime hot-shoe Tom Carey III will make his return to Thompson Speedway in the Brookside Ride while the top American-Canadian Tour rookie Kasey Beattie will also make the trek southward for some practice at the northeastern Connecticut oval. RICHMOND, Va. — Justin Bonsignore spent Tuesday morning and early afternoon taking laps around Richmond Raceway in Virginia behind the wheel of his No. 51 Phoenix Communications, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour ride for Kenneth Massa Motorsports. As part of a tire test, Bonsignore took laps in preparation for the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 150, which is set for Friday, September 10. The race will mark the return to the .750-mile oval for the Whelen Modified Tour for the first time since 2002.

In the previous 64 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races contested at Riverhead Raceway there was perhaps no more a popular winner then Eric Goodale of Riverhead when he topped the late Ted Christopher for the win June 28th, 2014. Eric who grew up roughly three miles from the historic quarter mile bullring was swarmed by family and friends after his first career WMT triumph. Saturday May 15th the 35-year old Goodale will come to the Miller Lite 200 at Riverhead as the early season WMT championship leader and is hopeful to repeat the scene from June of 2014. (more…)

Waterbury, VT & Naples, ME — The Sunday program of the annual Icebreaker at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 10 at approximately 5:30pm. American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials made the decision due to an inclement weather forecast for Sunday, April 11. I heard how much different this car was, and I wanted to see it for myself. Darlington is one of the top 3-4 most challenging tracks we get around. It might be the most difficult. This track in turns 1-2 is different than 3-4. I really wanted to get to drive this car and see what this thing’s like at a track that I’m comfortable at.
