Elkhart Lake, WISCONSIN – June 30, 2022 – The LTK Damon Racing team’s next stop on the Trans Am schedule is Road America located in the dairyland of Wisconsin. Last year at Road America, New Hampshire’s Tom Sheehan guided the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Ford Mustang on a solid drive to P12 from 38 starters.
The likable pilot will be aiming for something similar or better this weekend, July 1-3, as he bids to climb the Championship table from his current P18.
Tom shared his comments heading into the weekend, “Elkhart Lake and the Road America race bring back fond memories of the late Carl Wegner. Carl had a honest love of racing and an unmistakable presence. We miss and remember the man. For TA2 here this weekend, lots of fun, being aggressive and firing off out of the trailer. A big fast track suits me. It’s going be be a great show.”
Tom’s LTK Mustang is one of a huge entry of 55 cars in the TA2 race, the biggest field of the season – something sure to place track time at a premium, particularly after the two black flags that marred last Sunday’s event at Mid Ohio.
The Trans Am action at Road America is billed as the Ryan Companies presents the Trans Am 100s and forms part of a terrific program of top-class motorsports at the Elkhart Lake facility with NASCAR XFINITY and NASCAR Cup Series also on show. Located in Wisconsin’s scenic Kettle Moraine, Elkhart Lake’s Road America is one of the world’s fastest permanent road racing tracks. The 640-acre, park-like grounds offer amazing viewing opportunities, fantastic concessions, and high-speed excitement to thousands of spectators each year.
The TA2 drivers have a practice session at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1 with qualifying in two groups from 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2. The TA2 race goes green at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 3. Highlights of the action will be screened on the CBS Sports Network so check local listings for details.
