Barre, VT – Barre’s Thunder Road returns to racing action in a big way this Thursday, August 7 for Five Star Roofing night. Already highlighted by the 7th annual Road Warrior Challenge, Five Star Roofing night has also filled the void for the rain-delayed Vermont Lottery Flying Tiger trophy dash from back on July 17 while the Street Stocks will also crown the Vermont Agency of Transportation Triple Crown champion to boot! Oh, and don’t forget the Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models for one of the biggest bang-for-your-buck events of the summer season!
The Thunder Road Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors take center stage on Five Star Roofing night for their 7th annual 50-lap Challenge. Graniteville’s Derrick Mann looks poised to take the stacked 50 lapper on Thursday as the biggest winner in the division for 2025 but the likes of Mike ‘Slingshot’ Slingerland, Brandon Premont, Neal ‘Tetanus’ Foster and ‘No Look’ Nick Copping are among those looking to topple the King. Less a game of strategy and more a game of whose car can hold on the longest, Thursday’s Challenge is second only to October’s Mini Milk Bowl for the Road Warriors and is sure to be their event of the summer!
The Thunder Road rk Miles Street Stocks will crown the Vermont AOT Triple Crown Champion on Thursday following their regularly scheduled 25-lap showdown. After sweeping the first two rounds on Thursday and Sunday’s 50 lap special, defending track champion Dean Switser Jr. stands fourteen points ahead of Williamstown’s Kyle MacAskill. Switser will be digging his heels in to take the AOT Triple Crown after taking the first series title back in 2023.

The Thunder Road Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers will battle in double features on Five Star Roofing night, starting off Thursday’s program with the rain-delayed Vermont Lottery 40-lap trophy dash set back on July 17. Following the Vermont Lottery feature, officials will update the handicap for Five Star Roofing night. The evening could spell delight or disaster for teams in North America’s #1 Support Division but could also give Cameron Ouellette, Mike MacAskill and Brendan Moodie the much-needed opportunity to catch up to Sam Caron’s impressive lead in the championship chase.
The Thunder Road Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Models are also on the Five Star Roofing card for Thursday with a 50-lapper on the docket. The story on Thursday night is Mix and Match tires as teams are able to run any tire combination from their 2025 inventories but are not allowed to purchase new tires. With this system in use for years, some drivers have learned to maintain their tires for the long haul while the rookies like Brandon Gray, Kyle Streeter and Trevor Jaques will face just the latest curveball thrown their direction!
Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl is back for an absolutely action packed Five Star Roofing night! Headlined by the annual Road Warrior Challenge 50 lapper, the rk Miles Street Stocks will crown the AOT Triple Crown Champion while the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers run double features including their rain-delayed Vermont Lottery trophy dash. The Maplefields/Irving Late Models make it a full show with Post Time set for 7:00pm. Adult general admission is just $15, kids 12-6 are $5 and children 5 and under are free! The Family Four Pack (two adults, two kids) is also available for $30.
