The SABIL & Sons Inc feature winners for August 19th: Max Dolliver in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes Jason Horniak; Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets Nicki Ouellette® , High Country Dispensary Late Models Todd Dunham; LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks Andrew Fitzgerald; Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners: Spencer Braley. Joe Mama’s Sporting Goods OFF return August 26th.
In the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds the young’un Max Dolliver makes it back to the top to win after a two-year drought. Coming from the third row, Dolliver wasted no time making his way to the front taking the lead away from Jeremy Huntoon on lap ten and never looked back. Dolliver’s machine was on rails as he distanced himself from the pack to get the win and steal a triple crown from Huntoon. Huntoon is the second driver this year to fall one spot short of winning the crown, leaving Todd Hayward in the Sportsman Coupes the sole driver so far in 2023 to claim the honors. James Fadden joined the pair in victory lane coming home in third. Brian Chaffee and Jason Gray rounded out your top five.
It FINALLY happened! Sometimes no matter how hard you try the stars just won’t align right, but this night it would be a different story as Jason Horniak is finally able to add his name to the winners list after over a year since his last win in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes. This makes him the eleventh different winner which simply states this ain’t no patty cake party to be competing in. Horniak was able to fend off the pack of wolves to score the win, beating out the birthday boy Bob Shepard, who continues to be having his best year in a long time. Terry Williams back in the saddle joins the pair in third his best finish of the season. Tad Kingsbury and Matt Lashua completed the top five.
Three different stables made it to victory land, but it was all girl power in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets. All three came from mid pack with Chris Murray advancing the most positions, but just one position shy of collecting the checkers. The field of men would have to bow this night to the sole female in the field, as she made her way to the front from the fifth starting spot on the grid, took the lead over on lap six and never looked back, to claim her first win in the Xtreme DIRTcar DMA Midgets and be the first female to win in the division. Murray gave it a last-ditch effort scoring his fastest time on the last lap but would fall short of the top spot and have to settle for second. Third place goes to Justin Sheridan. Teammate Brandon Piastka crosses the line in fourth with the Matczak stable bookending the top five as Seth Carlson is scored in fifth.
Todd Dunham gets his second win in the High-Country Dispensary Late Models beating out the top two in the points battle. Kelly Miller Sr. is doing everything in his power to catch Matt Lashua for the championship but with time running out, finishing just one spot ahead isn’t going to be enough. Miller does get the second spot with Lashua taking the third and final victory lane spot. Scott Heath and Carl Eldridge rounded out the top five. The High-Country Dispensary Late Models WILL be back in action this coming Saturday August 26th.
Andrew Fitzgerald scores his fifth win of the year in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks adding to his sizable points lead for his quest of a championship title. Fitzgerald beat out Tyler Trembley who crosses the line in second for the second week in a row. Mike McClay gets the final trophy coming home in third. Dawn Rumrill crosses the line in fourth with Bryan King coming in fifth.
Consistency may be what this championship comes down to in the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners, as Spencer Braley and Travis King start to put a little distance between them and last year’s champion Logan Martin. This week with Braley squeezing out the win over King in the feature to score his third of the season and King beating out Braley in their heat race they find themselves both sitting on top of the hill. At the Ridge we don’t break ties in the points standings and it would not be the first time in the history of the Ridge that we didn’t have a tie for one of the top five positions at the end of the year. Will the two of them be able to remain consistent for the next five weeks? Or will one of them slip giving Martin a chance to get back in the hunt, only time will tell, and for now we will have to sit back and watch some exciting racing happening weekly for the Woodsville Power Equipment Ridge Runners. Logan Martin and Keith Mansur rounded out the top five.
