Barre, VT – The dog days of summer are here and Thunder Road International Speedbowl is ready to continue the busy August stretch of thrilling Thursday night racing. On the docket this week is Vermont Tire & Service Night with the FloRacing Double Purse up for grabs in all four divisions and the return of the popular Kids Poster Contest plus all Vermont Black Bear youth hockey players in uniform are admitted free!

Scott Coburn and Stephen Donahue split the accolades last week in the green-to-checkers Maplefields/Irving Oil Late Model feature but Jason Corliss still holds all the cards. Although Corliss took down just his second finish outside the top ten for the 2025 season, he still sits 39 points ahead of Christopher Pelkey in the overall chase with just five point-counting events left for the Late Models this season.

Following last week’s twin 40-lap features, Sam Caron continues to lead the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger championship standings. The former king hailing from Milton has been unstoppable in Flying Tiger competition at Thunder Road this year, again and again coming back from near impossible odds against him including 5th and 6th place finishes last Thursday. The big winner last time out was Kevin Streeter who was able to collect a win and a 3rd place run with the Waitsfield driver looking for more again on Vermont Tire & Service Night.

Coming off his Vermont Agency of Transportation Triple Crown championship, Dean Switser Jr. is back in the rk Miles Street Stock track championship chase, albeit on the outside looking in. Switser currently sits in fourth, ninety-one points out from Berlin’s Kyler Davis atop the charts with Flyin’ Fred Fleury and top rookie Hayden Bushey standing in his way. Bushey has been a ball of fire this summer on the Barre highbanks, taking the Noyle Johnson Insurance $50 hard-charger bonus four different times while still in the hunt for his first point-counting win after winning June’s Marvin Johnson First Time Winners showcase.

The Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors also return with everyone chasing Derrick Mann with the Graniteville plumber coming off the biggest win of the year in the annual 50-lap Challenge. Mike ‘Slingshot’ Slingerland has proven to be his best competition this year but look out for Eddie Thompson, ‘The Wingman’ Taylor Sayers, ‘The Chicklet’ Mason Frazier and the rest of the wild and wacky field as they battle for the FloRacing Double Purse on Vermont Tire & Service Night!

Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl is back this Thursday for Vermont Tire & Service Night! Headlined by the second FloRacing Double Purse of the season for the Maplefields/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, rk Miles Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors, Vermont Tire & Service Night also features the return of the Kid’s Poster Contest and free admission for all youngsters in their Vermont Black Bear Hockey uniforms!
