BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – The stakes continue to rise for race drivers who will be participating in the upcoming Freedom weekend of racing at Grandview Speedway on September 19 & 20.
The lap money for the lap leaders during the Freedom 76 has now seen all laps being sold, as many fans and area businesses sponsored laps for the historical race, with many laps now being sponsored twice. In addition, many bonuses have been posted for both the Freedom 76 T.P. Trailer Modified Championship and the Freedom 38 T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman Championship races.
Lap sponsorships for the 12th annual Freedom 38 Sportsman Championship on Friday, September 19 are still available. Lap sponsorships are a great way for fans to wish their favorite driver’s good luck in the big race, or for businesses to do some advertising. All lap sponsorships will be read on the public address system each week leading up to and including race night on September 19 & 20 and will be posted on social media. The extra bonuses continue to add up for both the Freedom 38 T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman Championship and the T.P. Trailer Freedom 76 Modified Championship events as follows:
*On Friday September 19 the winner of the Freedom 38 will receive a $500 bonus from the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series increasing the winner’s share from $2063 to $2563, and if the driver competed in all the Saturday NASCAR point races at the track this season, an additional $500 bonus will be awarded, making for a possible $3063 to win the Freedom 38!
*On Saturday, September 20 the winner of the Freedom 76 will receive a $1000 bonus from the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series increasing the winner’s take from $30,063 to a cool $31,063, and if the driver competed in all the Saturday NASCAR point races at the track this season, an additional bonus of $1000 will be awarded, making it possible for a driver to win $32,063 in this year’s Freedom 76!
The number 63 in the winner’s payout is to signify and celebrate the 63rd anniversary season of racing competition at Grandview Speedway!
*The T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman will be racing for extra money during the Freedom 38, as Roy Miller II of Keller Williams Real Estate will be sponsoring a Cash Dash for the heat race winners paying $500 to the winner! *A newly announced award will be the ERNIE SAXTON MODIFIED HARD CHARGER for the Freedom 76 T.P. Trailer Modified Championship, which will pay $100 per spot gained with a minimum of $1063 from Bobby Gunther Walsh and all of his sponsors who have contributed to the Hard Charger Award in memory of Ernie Saxton, with special thanks to Res Q Natural Supplements, Just Born Quality Confections makers of Mike & Ikes and Hot Tamales candies and those Marshmallow Peeps. The driver advancing the most positions in the Freedom 76 from their scheduled starting spot to their finishing position will receive the Hard Charger Award. (As an example, last year’s Hard Charger Eddie Strada advanced 28 positions, so under this year’s format, Strada would have gotten $2800 for the bonus award!)

The Freedom 76 weekend begins on Friday, September 19 with the 12th annual Freedom 38 Sportsman Championship. The race program will again follow the Freedom 76 race format with qualifying heats, consolations, Roy Miller II of Keller Williams Real Estate $500 to win cash dash, and a Minuteman 20 all leading up to the 38-lap Championship feature event, plus practice time for 358 Modified drivers wishing to participate in the Freedom 76.
Friday’s program will be known as Fans for Five Friday as the grandstand admission is just $5, while children ages 9 and under will be free of charge.
On Friday, pit gates open at 3 pm, with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm, drivers meeting at 5:30 pm, with the pill draw following the drivers meeting. Warmups are at 6:15 pm, and racing at 7:30 pm. Pit admission on Friday is $40, and no license is required. There is no rain date for the Friday event.
Racers are reminded that the Freedom 38 is open to regular Sportsman division drivers only (track or series), drivers who compete regularly in Modified division competition are not eligible to compete.
On Saturday, September 20, the 55th annual Freedom 76 will be run for the T.P. Trailer 358 Modifieds. The program includes qualifying heats, consolations, GT Radiator Repair $1000 to win cash dash, and the Minuteman 20, all leading up to the 76-lap Championship main event.
Pit gates open at 9 am, for car inspections, fans will be able to enter the Grandstand areas between 9 am, and 12 Noon to reserve seats with blankets, with grandstand ticket windows opening at 3 pm. Pill draw for position is at 4:30 pm, with the drivers meeting at 5 pm, warm-ups are at 6 pm, with racing starting at 7 pm.
Adult Grandstand tickets on Saturday will be $40, students 10-15 with ID are $20, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission will be $45, and no license is required. There will be no advanced tickets sold for this event, and the rain date is Saturday, September 27.

For the Freedom 76 & 38 the tire rules for the event are as follows, American Racer tires, 48 or 50 on the right rear, and it must be the Grandview Speedway tread pattern. Drivers are reminded that all cars must be using the RIGHT SIDE pan hard bar suspension set up. Those wishing to camp at the Speedway please note: Campers can enter the grounds in the fourth turn area on Saturday, September 13 and remain there until the 20th. However, because there are no hookups, sleeping in the campers can only take place September 18-20.
