Here’s How New England-Connected Drivers Did This Weekend At COTA

On Saturday Zane Smith came home the winner in the Camping World Track Series at the COTA while Boston’s Kaz Grala ended his day in 14th place with Westport, CT’s Parker Kligerman finishing 19th.

Later on Saturday afternoon saw AJ Almendinger swept the Xfinity race with a first-place win.  Cape Cod’s Chris Our’s three entries did reasonably well.  Brett Moffit came in seventh, Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT came in 13th and Jeb Burton finished 23rd. Chris and Mary Our of Harwich, MA are co-owners of that team.  Parker Kligerman also did double duty Saturday and pulled off a 12th place in the Xfinity grind
Here’s what occurred on Sunday at COTA in the NASCAR Cup race.  Ross Chastain came home the winner in overtime.  Not so fortunate were Kaz Grala of Boston, MA who ended his day in 25th.  Not as lucky were Joey Logano of Middletown, CT who finished way back in 31st along with Corey LaJoie who ended his day in 36th.  Corey is the son of two-time Xfinity Champion Randy LaJoie who is a native of Norwalk, CT.
While the 20-turn COTA track was specifically built for the Formula 1 Series, it’s our  opinion that the NASCAR Circus performance at that track contained much more competition than any previous F1 event ever held at that venue!
