How New-England-Connected Drivers Did At Martinsville

On Thursday night William Byron won the Camping World race at the 1/2-mile Martinsville Speedway with Westport, CT’s Parker Kligerman ending his night in 16th place.

On Friday night Brandon Jones won the Xfinity crash fest.  Coming in 14th was Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT while Derek Griffith of Hudson, NH wound up 21st.  Finishing way back in 32nd was Jeb Burton with Brett Moffitt ending his effort on the half-mile oval in 37th place.  Alfredo, Burton and Moffitt are all Our Motorsports teammates. Cape Cod’s Chris Our and his wife Mary own that three-Xfinity car stable and call Harwich, MA home.
In the NASCAR Cup race on Saturday night on the paper clip oval, Willaim Byron came home the winner with Middletown, CT’s Joey Logano settling for second.  Not so fortunate was Corey LaJoie who finished 32nd.  Corey is the son of Randy LaJoie who is a two-time Xfinity Champion and grew up in Norwalk, CT.  Randy served his race driver apprenticeship at various tracks and touring series in the northeast prior to his efforts in the Cup and Xfinity Series.
