Lou Modestino’s Track Talk For The Week

It appears that Donnie Lia will be the driver for the Old Blue #3 owned by Mike Boehler of East Freetown in just six selected NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races in 2022. Lia was in the #3 car at Richmond, VA on April 1 and finished in 19th place.

Jake Johnson of Rehoboth had been mentioned as the designated driver for #3 in other non-NASCAR events.
Then we heard from two reliable sources that Jake has his own Tour-Type Modified racecar and will drive that mount instead in the numerous Tour Type Opens that will take place in New England in 2022.
Johnson’s previous successful racing efforts were in the Super Late Model/Pro Stock Series. His biggest win came in the Super Late Models came in winning the Snowflake Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL in 2020. All that begs the question on who will steer the #3 Old Blue car in other Open Tour Type events?

Radio and TV Editor Matt Buckler of the Manchester, CT Daily Journal and race track announcer was dumped by the management of Stafford Motor Speedway in CT this past Tuesday.  It happened just five days before the track’s marque event the Spring Sizzler.  Buckler was very helpful to just about all of the tracks in the Connecticut Valley and elsewhere and deserved better treatment.
