Barre, VT — After recently announcing their inaugural visit to New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park just three weeks ago, Thunder Road officials are excited to announce yet another addition to the 2023 schedule. The highly acclaimed 350 Super Modified Atlantic Charter (SMAC) Tour is making its debut at Thunder Road as part of the newly-announced Super Saturday on August 12th. Alongside big-money showdowns for all four Thunder Road weekly divisions, the ultra-fast 350 SMAC Tour Supermodifieds are ready to tear around the Barre Highbanks for the first time ever!
Originally starting as a low-cost response to the growing expense of Supermodified racing in the 1980s, the 350 Supermodifieds are a slightly scaled down version of their Big-Block brethren, relying on either a 350 GM Crate Engine or the SMAC-Sealed Motor while still utilizing the iconic wing and big, open wheeled tires. These rockets have packed a punch at racetracks across the Northeast both as a viable weekly division and on the road with the 350 SMAC Tour from Maine to New York and across Southern New England.
“We’re ecstatic to have the opportunity to visit Thunder Road on August 12th,” said SMAC Promoter James Rusaw. “They run a world-class facility up there and we couldn’t be happier for our series or for our teams to get the call.”
This addition comes on the heels of the epic Super Saturday announcement less than two weeks ago. Big-money purses have been added for all four of Thunder Road’s weekly divisions including $1,500 to win for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, $1,000 to win for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, $500 to win for the rk Miles Street Stocks and $300 to win for the Burnett Scrap Metal Road Warriors! The rk Miles Street Stocks will also honor a new Triple Crown Champion on August 12th as part of the program, a three-races-in-six-days showdown of four-cylinder strength and ‘Crunch Bunch’ charisma.
“We are ecstatic to have the 350 SMAC Tour come to Thunder Road and put an exclamation point on our new Super Saturday program,” said Thunder Road managing partner Cris Michaud. “Adding the 350 Supermodifieds to the big-money show for our weekly divisions makes this rare Saturday Night Lights at the Nation’s Site of Excitement a must-see event for New England race fans!”
Sponsorship opportunities for the Super Saturday program, including the 350 SMAC Tour, on Saturday, August 12th and the Street Stock Triple Crown Series are both readily available! Interested parties should contact Thunder Road Marketing Director Marvin Galarneau at mfg@thunderroadvt.com.
