New England Needs Vintage Racing Renewal

Before New Hampshire International Speedway was sold to the late Bruton Smith of Speedway Motorsports and Sonic Automobiles by the late Bob Bahre, builder of that one-and-one eighth-mile paved venue,  it presented one of the best Vintage racecar events held at NHIS and the USA.

During the planning stage, Bahre put together a group of organizers comprised of the late John McCarthy. Al Novotny, Jack Wegman and himself early in the racing season that lasted for close to a week.
As a result, there was an enormous turnout of vintage entries from all over the Northeast and beyond from NEAR, STAR, ACOT, Wicked Vintage and other clubs that included many well-known individuals.
Also included in those events was a top of line car show comprised of some of the most rare and expensive Classic Cars in the world on the final weekend.  Many of them were from the Bob Bahre collection.  Several of them were designated as one offs!
That event lasted many years during the Bahre ownership but it faded away under the new management.  No doubt due to the lack of understanding of the Classic Car and Antique Race Car cultures.
This event could also work at several venues in New England not just at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  But at Seekonk Speedway in MA, Stafford Speedway and Thompson Speedway in CT, Oxford Plains Speedway in ME, Lee Speedway and Monadnock Speedway in NH and Thunder Road Speedway in VT among several others. Provided they can put the effort into it just as their predecessors did!
