Lou Modestino’s Track Talk Column

Dale Quarterly of Hanover, MA is entered in the upcoming ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway.  He finished in the top five last year after being in the hunt for the entire race.

Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, ME, a top race driver, could be giving up his racing career with a run for the US House of Representatives.
Wayne Darling will again be at the helm of his Modified Touring Series.  He’ll be running two of those events in his home town at the Seekonk Speedway this year on Wednesday, June 26 and the season ending Haunted 100 on Saturday, November 2.   That Tour will appear at six different tracks this racing season.
Too bad the SRX Series won’t be competing at Stafford Speedway in CT and the Thunder Road Speedway in VT as it’s being shut down.  We think that it’s because the promoters of that tour are resurrecting the defunct IROC Series for Super Speedways and top road courses.
Boston’s 25-year-old Kaz Grala landed a NASCAR Cup ride for 25 races.  Grala is also a skilled road racer.  He also won a NASCAR Truck race at Daytona a few years back.  His dad Darius, a road racer,  is a partner with one off the Fulller Brothers from Worcester and Brookfield, MA that operates the Fury Mod Tour car builders.
Claremont and Lee Speedways, both in NH, will host the ISMA/MSS Super Modifieds on Thursday and Friday on August 15th and 16th.
NASCAR Cup Francise Teams have yet to sign their contract with that racing club on how the TV money is going to be split.  We also have heard that the drivers are not happy with their cut of the TV monies.  Some racing wags feel that the drivers should be thinking about their own negotiating board which could give NASCAR some indigestion.
Word from the promoters of the World on Wheels set for March 22-24, 2024 at the Socios.com Field House at Patriot Place in Foxboro, MA.  The show will be catering to Ready-To buy Vehicle Enthusiasts, DIYers, Auto Hobbyists, Pro Shop Buyers and Auto Fanatics of all kinds.  Also Exhibits of Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles. ATV’s and RV’s will be the stars of the show.  There will also be a crew of workers rebuilding a vehicle engine over the entire weekend. Maybe some race cars will be on display.
