The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setups awaiting NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series teams at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be the same left- and right-side tire pairings both series used at Kansas Speedway two weeks ago.
This weekend marks only the second time both series will run these right-side tires, which means teams can lean on their Kansas data to refine their strategies ahead of Las Vegas. The left side tires across both Xfinity and Cup have been used five times previous this season, so teams come to Vegas with a solid base dataset to work from.
“Las Vegas Motor Speedway doesn’t traditionally produce high tire wear, so we’ve brought a setup that encourages wear,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear’s Director of Racing for the Americas.
“That helps the tires produce more fall-off over the course of a run. The updated right-side constructions, which both series successfully debuted at the similarly sized Kansas Speedway two weeks ago, achieved just that and allowed teams opportunities with their strategies.”
Xfinity Series teams will also use inner liners at Las Vegas, as is customary on tracks 1-mile and longer.
