How Did New England-Connected Drivers Do This Past Memorial Day Weekend?

Here’s how the New Englanders and those with connections to the area over the weekend.

On Friday at Charlotte Motor Speedway Ross Chastain won the Camping World NASCAR Truck race while Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT finished 11th. On Saturday J. Berry won the Xfinity race with Brett Moffitt placing 11th, Jeb Burton came in 12th and Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT finished 33rd. All three drivers steer entries owned by Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our who hail from Harwich, MA.

In Sunday’s Cup race Denny Hamlin won the Coca Cola 600 with Middletown, CT’s Joey Logano ending that race in 20th, Boston’s Kaz Grala came in 23rd while Corey Lajoie finished 36th. Corey is the son of Randy LaJoie who grew up in Norwalk, CT

In Sunday’s Indy 500 the checkered flag had Marcus Ericsson coming in the winner. Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT broke into the top ten at the finish. Previous to that Santino was running in the top five for the first 250 miles.
