We had a conversation with Rick Johnson of Pembroke regarding the early July AMA Pro MX at the family’ MX venue in Southwick. Rick and his son Keith Johnson of Carver, who is still the AMA Pro Vet National Champion, work all year round to make the Annual AMA Pro MX a success.
This year’s event was held on Saturday, July 9. Rick revealed that last year’s event had the largest attendance in the history. “With the Covid Pandemic behind us we pushed really hard to expand the track’s facilities. While we don’t offer attendance figures, we topped the ticket sales with a ten percent increase over last year. Again, NBC Sports broadcast the event.”
Cousin Dana Johnson is always hard at work promoting the Capeway Rovers MX track on the Carver/Middleborough line every Sunday from early April to mid-November. That track is one of the venues that helps to develop Amateur riders for the SuperX at Patriot Stadium in mid-April and MX 338 in Southwick MX National events on the first Saturday in July.
